Actor Mark Margolis is dead. The film star died on Thursday in a New York hospital at 83, as announced by his son Morgan (57), according to "Hollywood Reporter." Previously, Margolis is said to have suffered intermittently from an illness.
In 1983, Margolis appeared in the classic "Scarface" with Al Pacino (83). The Philadelphia-born actor also became known for his appearances in films by star director Darren Aronofsky (54), including "Pi" and "Black Swan."
But Margolis had his most significant role in the legendary TV series "Breaking Bad," in which he embodied wheelchair drug kingpin Hector Salamanca.
Only one episode with "Hector" was planned, but the viewers were so enthusiastic about him that he rose to become the great villain of the show. In 2012, Margolis was nominated for an Emmy for his performance. He then got to play Don Hector again in the prequel series "Better Call Saul" (2016 to 2022).
In addition to his son, Margolis is survived by his wife, Jacqueline.
