DLNews Technology:
An Apple smash hit is coming in the spring!
Every year, the tech world at Apple focuses on the new iPhone. But, this time, everything is supposed to be different: The tech giant will likely add a new device to its product lineup this spring!
This is reported by the usually well-informed Apple insider Mark Gurman from the business news service "Bloomberg."
According to the report, Apple is focussing on a new product: an "augmented reality" headset this year. The glasses are supposed to make it possible to insert virtual images into the real world. According to the report, the company has already made the device available to selected software developers for testing.
There are still said to be problems with the glasses.
After several postponements, Apple wanted to present the AR glasses to the public in January. That would have fit perfectly: January 9 marked the 15th anniversary of the presentation of the first iPhone.
But apparently, the symbolic date could not be kept. There are various problems with the software and the marketing strategy, among other things.
According to the report, Apple wants to introduce the glasses under "Reality Pro" before the public Apple developer conference in June. Official shipments to customers are then expected to start in the fall.
The device will run a special Apple operating system called "xrOS."
One thing is clear: It would be Apple's most spectacular product presentation in years!
According to the Bloomberg report, Apple's resources are distributed accordingly. However, the focus is clearly on the new AR headset. Further significant changes in Apple's lineup are not expected for the iPhone, iPad, or AirPods.
It is also a fact that Apple would not be the first company to introduce an AR headset. However, none has made the breakthrough, and none has reached the masses.
However, this is precisely a discipline that Apple has mastered well in the past. The iPhone made smartphones suitable for the masses, the Apple Watch, the smartwatches, and the AirPods, the Bluetooth headphones.
It would be all the more exciting if Apple presented its AR headset in just a few weeks.
