CANNES– Dust off your finest attire and brace yourselves, film fanatics, because the 77th Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off today on the stunning Côte d'Azur!
Jane Fonda is on the world-famous “Hotel Martinez” balcony, where the most prominent stars stay during the festival. Some of the suites are also used for receptions and styling.
In a scene straight out of a Hollywood dream, the iconic Jane Fonda, aged 86, made a grand yet effortlessly chic appearance. She was spotted on the balcony of the legendary "Hotel Martinez" (five stars, of course), draped in a white bathrobe, her hair artfully tousled, and her eyes shielded by oversized sunglasses. Understatement as a statement, indeed!
With over 50 films and two Oscars, Jane Fonda is a permanent fixture at Cannes. She reminisced fondly, "I have so many memories! Every time I'm here, it's a special experience." For Fonda, Cannes epitomizes "film art at its best."
Actress Valentina Pahde (29) was a guest at Cannes in 2022 in a dream white gown - and looks forward to being there again this year.
But Fonda isn't the only star lighting up the French Riviera from May 14th to 25th. The festival will see a parade of acting legends, film producers, influencers, and photographers converging in this picturesque port town. Premiering at Cannes often means a ticket to global success; everyone wants a piece of the action.
German supermodel Heidi Klum, 50, arrived days before the official opening. True to her style, Heidi stirred up a whirlwind of speculation with a big announcement. A new TV show? A secret project? Nope! She revealed a collaboration with a significant French cosmetics brand in a wholly commercial (yet utterly fabulous) fashion.
Like Heidi Klum, anyone who comes to Cannes usually flies and lands at Nice airport. Dozens of paparazzi are stationed there throughout the film festival to catch the first photos of the stars.
During the festival, the city transforms into a grand catwalk, starting from the airport where stars land with a mountain of suitcases. Each hour, each appearance demands a new outfit. The main street, Boulevard de la Croisette, becomes an exclusive corridor for limousines shuttling stars from their hotels to the red carpet.

For those without premiere invitations, the public beach is the place to be. It is teeming with photographers eager for the next big shot.
On Tuesday evening, Meryl Streep will be seen as the guest of honor at the opening
The red carpet will be graced by some true Hollywood heavyweights this year. Here's a sneak peek at the lineup for the first few days:
- Tuesday, May 14th: Opening ceremony with Meryl Streep, 74.
- Wednesday, May 15th: World premiere of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” with Chris Hemsworth, 40.
- Thursday, May 16th: “Megalopolis” by Francis Ford Coppola, 85.
- Friday, May 17th: “Kinds of Kindness” starring Emma Stone, 35.

- Monday, May 20th: “The Apprentice” – a film exploring the early political career of a young Donald Trump.
And in a twist that's as Cannes as it gets, there's a reporter this year with paws! Messi, the border collie from the French film “Anatomy of a Case” (starring Sandra Hülser, 46), will have his video column. Teaming up with a comedian, Messi will interview stars with the "innocence and perspective of a dog" for a French TV station. Because in Cannes, anything can happen!
Movie dog Messi already stole the show at the Oscars. Now, he can try to be an animal reporter in Cannes.
So, prepare for a dazzling spectacle where the stars shine brighter, the stories get juicier, and the unexpected is always around the corner. Cannes 2024 is here, and it will be a wild ride!
