JOSHUA TREE, CA – The desert air is about to get a whole lot groovier as renowned Joshua Tree artist Patrick Hasson unveils his much-anticipated series, "1969," at the Shafer Gallery within the brand-new Hi-Desert Artists (HDA) Center. Set to debut on September 7th, 2024, this electrifying collection promises a vibrant explosion of color, music, and history.
Hasson, celebrated for his psychedelic and rainbow-drenched ‘Dripping’ style, brings to life the legends of 1969—Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, and more—in a series that captures the spirit of a year that defined rock music. “Hosting Patrick’s ‘1969’ series is like injecting the Shafer Gallery with a shot of pure, unfiltered energy,” exclaims Karin Skiba, Gallery Director at HDA. “These portraits are more than just paintings—they’re a sensory experience.”
The buzz surrounding the show is palpable, and with good reason. “Patrick’s ‘Desert Dudes’ series was already something special,” says Chris Goss, a Desert Rock Legend immortalized in that collection, “but ‘1969’ is on another level. He’s created something as much a tribute to the music as a visual masterpiece. Unlike anything else, it’s a true fusion of sound, color, and texture.”
Mark your calendars for the opening reception from 5-8 PM on September 7th at the Shafer Gallery, where you can witness firsthand the visual feast that is "1969." The exhibition will run until September 22nd, offering art lovers and music fans a chance to immerse themselves in Hasson’s world.
Living and creating in Joshua Tree, CA, Hasson’s excitement for the show is palpable. “I’m thrilled to showcase '1969' at the Shafer Gallery,” he shares. “This space is incredible, and it’s an honor to contribute to the vibrant Hi-Desert arts community.”
Located at 55635 Twentynine Palms Hwy, Yucca Valley, CA, the Shafer Gallery is open Thursday through Monday with no admission fee. For more information, visit hi-desertartists.com/exhibitions.
Hasson’s self-taught 'Dripping' technique, which forgoes the brush in favor of a more organic approach, has made waves in the art world, earning him features on HGTV, USA TODAY, VICE, and PALM SPRINGS LIFE. His iconic Rainbow House, a living work of art, has been spotlighted by HGTV’s Zillow Gone Wild and will soon be featured on The Design Network. Hasson’s creations are not just paintings; they’re pieces of living history cherished in private collections across the US and Europe.
