DLNews Election 2024:
Palm Springs, CA - Prepare for an inspiring evening in the desert! The Friends of the Palm Springs Library are thrilled to kick off Season Six of Palm Springs Speaks with the legendary Donna Brazile. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Richards Center for the Arts, Palm Springs High School.
Donna Brazile, a powerhouse in American politics, has dedicated her life to pushing for progressive change and fostering a fair and equitable society. Brazile's impact is undeniable, from working on every major presidential campaign since 1976 to becoming the first Black woman to manage a major party presidential campaign in 2000 for former Vice President Al Gore. Twice serving as the interim Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), she is a beacon of responsible governance.
Brazile is not just a political icon but also a celebrated author. Her New York Times bestseller *Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-Ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House* and her memoir *Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics* are just a glimpse into her storied career. She’s also a co-author of *For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics*, which won the 2019 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, Nonfiction. Most recently, she contributed to *400 Souls: A Community History of African America, 1619-2019*.
“We are beyond excited to have Ms. Brazile speak just weeks before the 2024 Presidential Election,” said Director of Library Services Jeannie Kays. “Her insights are timely, her experience unparalleled, and she continues to align with our mission to bring diverse, thought-provoking speakers to the Coachella Valley. We couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing sponsors, including The City of Palm Springs, LULU American Bistro, Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs, Palm Springs Unified School District Foundation, The Palm Springs Cultural Center, and Follett Books.”
