Los Angeles- Angus Cloud, the series "Euphoria," star died at 25. The actor is best known for playing drug dealer Fezco "Fez" O'Neill on the HBO series.
"It is with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible person today," Cloud's family said in a statement to TMZ. "As an artist, friend, brother, and son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."
Cloud's publicist, Cait Bailey, said he died Monday at his home in Oakland, California. TMZ reports that around 11:30 a.m., an emergency call from Cloud's mother was received by the police. She wrote a "possible overdose," a source told TMZ. She said her son had no pulse. When the emergency doctors arrived, all they could find was his death.
The family pointed out that Cloud's father passed away last week, and the actor was "intensely grappling with this loss." "The only comfort we have is knowing that Angus is now reunited with his father, his best friend," it said.
Angus Cloud had never acted before getting the part on Euphoria. He was walking down the street in New York when casting director Jennifer Venditti noticed him. "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson made him co-star alongside Zendaya (26, "Dune") in the first two seasons of the series. The role saw Cloud's breakthrough in 2019. He was recently cast in a supporting role in Scream 6.
His social site X (formerly Twitter) profile said: "We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was tremendously talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family.”
In 2022, Cloud spoke about how fame has affected his life: "People know me and know who I am. It's throwing me off," he told Interview Magazine. "I'd rather people didn't recognize me. I'm not mad at them for doing it, but I'd rather they didn't. I want to be normal with people. I don't want to be treated particularly well."
"We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still coming to terms with this devastating loss," his family said.
