Visit Greater Palm Springs (VGPS) proudly joins destinations nationwide to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) from May 5–11, 2025. Now marking its 42nd year, NTTW highlights how travel supports economies, connects communities, and creates memories.

Here in the heart of the California desert, tourism reigns supreme. As the region’s number one industry, it delivered a powerful $9 billion economic impact in 2023, fueling more than 59,000 local jobs across our nine vibrant cities. From boutique shops to world-class hotels and breathtaking outdoor escapes, travel breathes life into every corner of Greater Palm Springs.

To honor this vital industry, Visit Greater Palm Springs is launching a weeklong celebration featuring digital and in-person events designed to connect, educate, and inspire. From toolkits for marketing and training to spotlighting inclusive tourism initiatives and sustainability, the lineup reflects the destination’s commitment to progress.

Among the week’s highlights:

• TEAM GPS Training Drive: Empowering frontline workers to join a network of over 1,000 local destination ambassadors.
• Partner Spotlights: Celebrating initiatives like Kind Traveler, Wheel the World, and Autism Certification—advancing sustainability, accessibility, and inclusion.
• Marketing Resources: Equipping local businesses with insights and collaborative opportunities to amplify their reach.
• Giving Back: Recognizing the $58,000 invested in 2024 by the Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation to support scholarships, training, and workforce development.

In-Person Events

The celebration continues offline with two special gatherings:

• Wednesday, May 7 (2–5 p.m.) — A hotel sales-focused tradeshow at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas featuring airport updates, DMC networking, and a panel on sustainability.
• Thursday, May 8 (Noon–3 p.m.) — The Visit Greater Palm Springs Open House, where partners can meet the VGPS team, enjoy refreshments, and explore promotional strategies.
