Bermuda Dunes, CA.  Desert Christian Academy (DCA) is both pleased and honored to announce that former New York City Mayor and Presidential Candidate Rudolph “Rudy” Giuliani will present the keynote address at the 22nd Annual Auction Gala “A Heroes’ Welcome”. The event will take place Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells.  The annual auction provides much needed funding for DCA’s Tuition Assistance Program, which allows students from all economic backgrounds the opportunity to attend the college preparatory institution.

“Mayor Giuliani is the ultimate example of heroism, which is our central theme this year,” says Dave Fulton, DCA Founder and Head of School. “We will be honoring everyday heroes from law enforcement, fire and safety fields, among others. We felt Mayor Giuliani was the ideal person to help us do that.”

Giuliani, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, is best remembered for his service to the citizens of New York City as Mayor on September 11, 2001 and in the days after the horrific terrorist attacks.  Mayor Giuliani served from 1994 to 2001 as the city’s mayor, and was a voice of calm, commanding leadership during the chaotic moments and days following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in downtown Manhattan.  He was instrumental is providing steady leadership, not just for the city of New York, but stood as an example to all of America in the face of the terrorist threat. His actions earned him the well deserved nickname “America’s Mayor”.

We are elated that he will be our featured speaker,” added Mr. Fulton. “It builds on our success last year, with former First Lady Laura Bush delivering our keynote address.  Having someone of Mayor Giuliani’s stature to help honor everyday heroes is exactly what we were hoping for.”

Additionally, the event will honor local heroes such as mayors from valley cities and the area’s first responders.

“It is entirely appropriate to honor heroes and heroism, and will provide so many great role-models for the students at Desert Christian Academy,” says Mayor Giuliani.  “I am grateful for the invitation, and look forward to helping instill the virtues of heroism and courage in these fine young student citizens.”

Desert Christian Academy’s Annual Auction netted over $375,000 last year which has helped provide children in the Valley a Faith-based, Christ-centered education that builds exceptional students of great character.  Some 600 people attended last year’s auction, featuring former First Lady Laura Bush. DCA is hopeful that Mayor Giuliani’s presence will create the same level of excitement, attendance and results as last year’s event, which was DCA’s most successful to date.

Desert Christian Academy, located in Bermuda Dunes, California, is home to nearly 500 students from toddlers to 12th grade, and is the leading college preparatory school in the Coachella Valley.
